F.C. Copenhagen has made a new addition to its roster with the signing of Diogo Gonçalves, a talented 25-year-old offensive player from Portuguese side Benfica. Gonçalves has spent years honing his skills in Benfica's academy, eventually earning a spot on the first team in 2017. He has also represented various Portuguese youth national teams.
Having been limited to minutes at Benfica so far this season, Gonçalves makes the move hoping for game time. Having been hotly tipped as a youngster, he'll be hoping to prove his pedigree in his mid-twenties and lock down a starting place.
Performance Analysis
Comparing his output to similar players outside the big 5 european leagues, we can see his best attributes come from his defensive output. As an attacking player, his attributes would suit a side looking to deploy a high press.
FC Copenhagen often top the charts for chance creation in the Danish Superliga, so deploying a high press from a player who is comfortable receiving progressive passes gives you a player who is comfortable playing high up the pitch both defensively but also for being a target for crosses and through balls.
We'd expect to see Goncalves deployed as a winger, but wouldn't be surprised to see him used as a wing back against trickier opposition.

Looking solely at games where Diogo has started for Benfica, we can find some pretty underwhelming performances. He suffers the fate of many midfielders who play in advanced wide roles where they are heavily penalised for loss of possession - common when putting crosses into the box.
His current Rare price sits at 0.1 ETH - this has ballooned since rumours of the news broke as is often common with players like this moving to a club which doesn't mint cards on the platform, but still gets coverage in-game. Whilst a purchase of Goncalves will give you a bit of differential, we feel like 0.1 ETH might possibly buy you better options in the market right now.

If you were fortunate enough to pick him up for 0.04 - 0.06 ETH you may well have a decent potential card to use when things pick up in Denmark. But it remains to be seen if he can turn up his scoring in the Superliga.
